Long Beach State Gets Some
Good & Bad News--(Oct. 26, 1999)
First the Bad News: Cal State Long Beach announced last week (specifically on Oct. 19, 1999) that forward Cesar Sanchez (6'-5" Jr. F) has been "suspended indefinitely" from the team for what coach Wayne Morgan called "behavior inconsistent with team protocol." Sanchez, a New York native, transferred to Long Beach State from Garden City Junior College in Kansas, where he averaged 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. And in another bit of bad news that we neglected to report on a short while ago, Richie Smalls is apparently also out for the season due to an injury.
Now the Good News: Kevin Roberts (6'-4" Sr. SF) from Petaluma Casa Grande, reportedly has also given a verbal commitment to Long Beach State. We have not seen Roberts play, and so can offer no insights into his ability or how he'll fit in, but he reportedly visited the campus this past weekend with his mother and they were suitably impressed.
