LMU Announces Two New
Coaching Additions--(Oct. 5, 1999)

More news that we knew about but failed to timely report.   But better late than never we say.  This is also located over at the LMU Official Men's Basketball site, and we want to thank our "friends" for reminding us that we'd forgotten to get this posted here at SoCalHoops last week. We've seen both of these guys around at the various tournaments, especially Mike Fenison, and wanted to take this opportunity to formally say "welcome" to D-I in  SoCal, and wish both of them good luck at Loyola Marymount this season,  and especially on the recruiting trail. Here's the LMU official press release:

LOYOLA MARYMOUNT NAMES MICHAEL FENISON AND JASON OVERSTREET ASSISTANT MEN’S BASKETBALL COACHES

Los Angeles, Calif., Thursday, September 23, 1999 -- Loyola Marymount head men’s basketball coach, Charles Bradley, announced today the hiring of assistant coaches Michael Fenison and Jason Overstreet. The two additions round out Bradley’s staff as he gets ready to open his third season as head coach at LMU next month.

"I'm very excited about the addition of Michael and Jason to our staff," said third-year head coach Charles Bradley. "They each have had some great experiences that will help this program succeed."

Michael Fenison joins the staff at LMU after formerly serving as an assistant coach at Mount San Antonio College. While helping to guide the Mounties to a .500 record last season, Fenison played an integral role in coaching two players that were selected to the first team All-South Coast Conference team. Prior to his appointment at Mount San Antonio, Fenison spent two seasons (1994-96), as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at California State University, Los Angeles. He helped guide the Golden Eagles to a 29-27 overall record in two seasons, and helped coach two players who earned first team all-conference honors. During the 1993-94 season, Fenison served an assistant coach at the University of California, Santa Barbara, which compiled a 13-14 final record. A 1988 graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, with a bachelor of science degree in physical education, Fenison moved on to earn his master’s degree in education with an emphasis in physical education from Azusa Pacific University in 1991.

Jason Overstreet rounds out the staff at LMU for the 1999-2000 season. Also an assistant men’s basketball coach at Mount San Antonio College from 1997-1999, Overstreet helped guide the Mounties to an overall record of 14-14 during the 1997-98 campaign. That season, Overstreet helped coach one of the team’s players which earned first team All-Conference honors. While at Mt. San Antonio, Overstreet also taught various courses in physical education. Prior to his stint as assistant coach at Mount San Antonio, Overstreet served as head coach of the San Diego Collegiate and Professional Basketball League in 1996. A 1995 graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University with a degree in mass communications, Overstreet recently earned his master’s degree in physical education from Azusa Pacific University in 1999
