Desmon Farmer
Commits To USC--(Oct. 11, 1999)
Bob Gibbons is reporting that Desmon Farmer (6'-4" Sr. SG) from Flint, Michigan, will make an announcment tonight that he's commiting to USC. We have no idea where the announcment will be made, but if true, this is obviously very big news indeed for the Trojans and Henry Bibby.
Farmer is one of the best pure shooters in the senior class, and when we saw him last spring at the Pump Easter Tournament he was spectacular. He didn't play this summer, recovering from a torn ACL, but he continued to be rated highly by most recruiters and scouts. Gibbons had him rated as the No. 2 wing player in the entire class, just behind Deshawn Stevenson.
This is a huge commitment for the Trojans, and one which is probably the most important signing for Bibby in the past few years. Assistant Coach Dave Miller worked long and hard with Desmond and he and the rest of the Trojan coaching staff should be very proud.
And the Trojans are not done with their recruiting, not by a long shot. They will have Nick Enzweiler (6'-6" Sr. SG/SF) from Camplindo HS this weekend, and they are also looking now, according to other sources, at Kevin Bradley (6'-2" So. PG) who formerly committed to Pepperdine but opted to attend Compton CC when Lorenzo Romar left for St. Louis last spring. USC is still in on Brennon Martin (6'-6" Sr. SG), and is still reportedly looking at Kenny Brunner (5'-10" So. PG) who is attending the College of Southern Idaho this season. Oh, and don't forget about Jared Jeffries (6'-10" Sr. PF) from Bloomington, Indiana. . . about whom we won't further comment except to say to those in Indiana who wrote us all those love letters a couple of weeks ago: "It ain't over until it's over."
