Our Bad Again. Chaminade Not
In At Hoops Challenge--(Oct. 1, 1999)

When we did our first high school team preview of the season, featuring West Hills Chaminade, we spent quite a while with coach Jeff Young on the phone and e-mailing information back and forth. But one of the few things we neglected to ask him, taking it pretty much for granted (considering we had a tentative schedule showing the Eagles vs. Simi Valley), was whether Chaminade would be appearing in the adidas Double Pump 2000 Hoop Challenge taking place at Cal State Dominguez Hills this coming MLK, Jr., weekend. Seems though that we should have asked, because Chaminade is not going to be participating in the event this year. Chaminade participated in the event last year; we've looked at their schedule, and it looks like they've still got one game to "give" in the maxium 20 game schedule (the CIF SS says no team can play more than 20 games, but that doesn't count playoff games), but perhaps we're miscounting. In any event, it looks like they won't be at the Pump thing, so we'll be watching to see who gets the matchup with Simi Valley, which as it happens would have been a rematch at the MLK event anyway since Chaminade will play Simi Valley in a non-league game on December 17.
