Fourth Annual Nike Extravaganza
Coming In Feb.--(Oct. 21, 1998)

Although it's still more than three months away, it's never too early to plan ahead.  Just after the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday weekend events at Cal State Dominguez Hills, Pauley Pavilion, and sandwiched in-between the Southern Section playoffs, Mater Dei High School will host the Fourth Annual Nike Extravaganza.  This one will be held on February 6, 1999 at Cal State Fullerton, and will feature eight great games.Like last year's event, which was held at the Bren Center at UC Irvine, this one at CSUF will feature a morning session and an evening session with a break in between.

The morning session begins at 10 a.m. and will feature
10:00 a.m. --Tustin vs Upland High
11:30 a.m. --Santa Margarita vs Servite
1:00 p.m. ---Long Beach Poly vs Villa Park
2:30 p.m.---Crenshaw vs Oceanview

The evening session will feature:
4:30 p.m.-- Lakewood Artesia vs. Capistrano Valley
6:00 p.m.-- Glendora vs. Troy
7:30 p.m.-- Bishop O'Dowd vs. Mater Dei
9:00 p.m.--Compton Dominguez vs. Oak Hill Academy

Wow. Bishop O'Dowd v. Mater Dei could be a potential state game if what we hear about both these teams is true.  And this year, Compton Dominguez will try to avenge their two point loss at the hands of Oak Hill, which last year featured Kevin Lyde (6'-9" PF),  Souleymane Camara (6'-11" C), and Antwan Scott (6'-8 SF), all of whom graduated. These are some excellent matchups and this one might just feature more than one or two State Championship teams among the field, and the organizers have been fortunate in assembling a great array of talented teams with some of the best prep players in the country to showcase to the SoCal fans. It you need information or would like to get in touch with the organizers to become a sponsor, give Steve Kasper a call at 714-996-3980 or fax, 714-996-3365, or send him an e-mail at steve@orco.com.

We'll see you there.
