Lance Buoncristiani Will Be
A Vandal: Verbals To Idaho--(Oct. 19, 1998)

Recruiting USA's new website, which is just getting started and which is worth a visit and maybe even a subscription, or at least a call to their 1-800 line,  is reporting that one of our favorite players of the summer, Lance Buoncristiani (5'-8" Sr. PG)  from Galena High School in Reno, Nevada, has verballed to the University of Idaho, ending speculation that he might end up at USD.  Lance is one of the quickest, hardest working players around, and he's spent the last few summers here at the West Coast All-Stars Camps and at the Best of Summer and in Las Vegas playing harder than almost anyone else we've had the pleasure of watching.. He's quick, has a great handle, penetrates, and plays fearlessly.  Lance is truly a coach's point guard, who understands the game, has great passing skills and the ability to run the break,  and he shows tremendous promise as a college player.

He's a seriously good pickup for the Idaho Vandals, and as Recruiting USA notes:

" this lefty is a strong pick-up for Idaho, which is emerging as one of the best small conference basketball programs in the country. The Vandals have a serious backcourt, with 6'0 senior Avery Curry (who made All-Conference last season after transferring from Florida State) and 6'5 JUCO All-American, Gordon Scott. Just a junior, Scott, who was called by one NBA scout as being a Latrell Sprewell-type scoring machine, was recruited by the likes of TCU and Fresno State. Scott followed his coach at Barton County (KS), Steve Forbes, to Idaho, when Forbes was named as assistant on Dave Farrar's staff. Don't be surprised if Idaho brings in more serious JUCO talent this season as Forbes and Farrar's other assistant, Derek Zeck are among the best JUCO recruiters in the country. Zeck was formerly the top assistant at Butler County (KS), where he recruited current JUCO studs Antonio Jackson, 6'6 combo guard, and 6'5 jumping jack Damon Barnett; Idaho will be a finalist for both players, who are getting high-major interest."

Lance is just an amazingly hard working young man, and this summer he routinely played in four or five consecutive games during the Best of Summer, and then came to LA for the Double Pump Fall Discovery Shootout at Cal State Dominguez Hills where he played for the Pump-N-Run I team as well as the Galena All-Stars,  and continued to impress the college scouts and coaches in attendance.
