Cal State Fullerton Hires New
Assistant Coach, Rich Bossenmeyer--(Oct. 24, 1998)
We don't know how we missed the news of this one, but early last week the Cal State Fullerton Titans announce that Rich Bossenmeyer had been hired as an assistant men's basketball coach for this season. Bossenmeyer has been the head coach at Orange High for six seasons, and was an assistant coach last season at Chapman University in Orange. Bossenmeyer also spent a season as an assistant for the Rapid City Thrillers of the Continental Basketball Association. Rich will be a "restricted earnings" coach (to the extent that term still has meaning following the huge judgment against the NCAA by the restricted earnings coaches who sued claiming that such earnings restrictions were discriminatory--they won, and while the case is on appeal we're not exactly sure about the status of the title. In any event, Bossenmeyer takes over the restricted-earnings position left vacant when Bob Thornton was promoted to full-time status by coach Hawking. Bossenmeyer will be the last coach hired this season at Fullerton, which now has a full complement of coaches.
