Brennan Martin: Detroit Not In
Cards;
USC Possible--(Sept. 13, 1999)
Yesterday we caught up with Brennan Martin (6'-5" Sr. SG) from Trabuco Hills during the EBO v. Top Prospects game and we had a chance to talk with him about his recruiting. Brennan, a superior shooter with great quickness and excellent court sense, was widely rumored to be moving with his family to Detroit, and thus foregoing his senior season at Trubuco for somewhere in the Motor City, and we reported as much about a month ago.
Well, we're glad to report that Brennan told us yesterday that he's not going. His dad did indeed get the job in Detroit, and will be moving there, but in deference to Brennan finishing his senior year and to avoid further disruptions, the family has agreed that Brennan and his mom will stay in SoCal while dad Martin works; following Brennan's graduation, if everything works out ok, the family will either move to Detroit, or his father will move back to SoCal.
Brennan also told us about his recruiting. Right now, he's looking at Texas A&M, Wyoming, USC and Washington State. Asked if he had any favorites, he told us, "No, I'm really wide open right now, and just looking forward to meeting with all the coaches." Asked about USC and whether he would want to stay in Southern California to play, he said, "Well, I've had some really good talks with the coaches there, and I like coach Bibby and especially coach Dominguez, and I can see myself there. But right now, I'm going to take it one step at a time and consider all my options and all the offers I get."
Just as we were finishing our conversation, Tracy Pierson from PacWestHoops and Clark Francis from HoopScoop also walked over and they also elicited some additional information from Brennan, including that Utah and UMass have also expressed some interest in him and that he may set up home visits with them as well. We also learned that Brennan has not yet fully qualified in that he hasn't taken the SAT yet, but will shortly in October.
