Pasadena Marshall Loses Two,
Gets Three More--(Sept. 24, 1999)
We received word this week about several of Pasadena Marshall's players, and there's some pretty interesting things occurring at the school:
The biggest news is that Deverion Mackey (6'-5" Sr. SG/SF)has transferred to Moorpark HS, and will play with several of his ARC Los Angeles clubmates, including point guard prospect Todd Tomlinson (6'-1" Sr. PG) who impressed a lot of coaches last week with his play in the Fullcourt Press Fall Showcase. The assumption has been also that LA ARC coach Rob Icart will return as an assistant to the school, but the last time we talked to him about that at the Fall Hoops Showcase, he was uncertain about it.
Deverion's favorite alley-oop partner Jason Sanford (6'-5" Sr SF) will still be enrolled at Marshall, but will not play this season so he can work on his grades in order to qualify for enrollment at Long Beach State, to whom he's rumored to have given a verbal committment.
Even with the loss of these two for the season, Marshall picks up three new players: Douglas Gray (6'-6" Sr. SF) from John Muir has enrolled, Hassan Moody (5'-10" Jr. PG) also from John Muir has checked in, and Harvey Simmons (6'-3" Jr. SG) from North Bend H.S. in Oregon has moved to the area and will provide some valuable athleticism.
