LB Fall Hoops Classic: Pool
"C" Rosters;
EBO-EA No.1 Seed--(Sept. 10, 1999)
We finally got the rosters for the teams to go along with the schedules Dinos Trigonis sent us the other day, so now we can at least evaluate, on paper, the relative strengths and weaknesses of the various teams in each pool. Some teams look really, really strong on paper, while others look pretty weak. Of course there's no substitute for actually seeing the games, and we're sure that notwithstanding how good some teams look on paper, a lot of people will be surprised that some seemingly lowly looking rosters will be one or more high-powered and well-regarded team.
We're going to list the rosters pool-by-pool, which will be a little more helpful and give you a way to actually plan out what teams you'll watch tomorrow, since the games on Friday (today) and Saturday will all be pool play games. Here's what we now know about the teams and the schedule for Pool "C" (note: We'll include the roster numbers where they are available):
ARC Los Angeles Coach: Robert Icart 2. Douglas Gary (6'-6" Sr. F) Marshall Fundamental |
Belmont Shore II Coach: Dinos Trigonis 8. Fowzi Abdelsamad (6'-0" Sr. SG) Fairfax |
EBO-EA Sports Coach: Darren Matsubara 0. DeShawn Stevenson (6'-5" Sr.SG/SF) Wash. Union |
Future Stars Elite Coach: Harry Wilson Travis Honour (6'-6" Sr. F) Laguna Beach |
Here's the pool "C" schedule:
Friday, September 10
Teams--Friday, September 10 | Time | Location |
Belmont Shore II v. Future Stars Elite | 6:30 p.m. | LBCC Aux Gym |
Ebo-EA Sports v. ARC-Los Angeles | 10:15 p.m. | LBCC Main Gym |
Teams--Saturday, September 11 | Time | Location |
ARC Los Angeles v. Future Stars Elite | 12:45 p.m. | LB Millikan HS |
EBO-EA Sprots v. Belmont Shore II | 2:00 p.m. | LBCC Main Gym |
Belmont Shore II v. ARC-Los Angeles | 5:45 p.m. | LB Millikan HS |
EBO-EA Sports v. Future Stars Elite | 7:00 p.m. | LBCC Main Gym |
Here's a prediction: If EBO shows up, guess who's going to win this pool? We're figuring EBO as the No. 1, Belmont as No. 2 and then it's a toss-up between ARC and Future Stars. Oh, and it looks like Future Stars isn't Ollie Goulston's team, after all. If you ddn't miss it already, you'll want to see the EBO v. ARC LA game, and we're also looking forward to the EBO v. Belmont game; for a "II" team, Dinos has actually put together a very strong group, and they've got a couple of legitimate D-I guys, including Jamaal Barnes and Jon Steven and Jeff Grgas, who could go low D-I or possibly D-II or III.
See you there.
