Last Reminder: LB Fall Hoops
Classic Starts Today--(Sept. 10, 1999)

The 7th Annual Long Beach Fall Hoops Classic begins today at 4:00 p.m. with games at Long Beach City College (in both the Main Gym and the Auxiliary Gym) and at Long Beach Millikan HS. Games will continue all day tomorrow and through Sunday, September 12.  The tournament will feature 36 teams, most of which we've attempted to profile, which is kinda difficult for many of them, considering we don't have the rosters (yet).

And speaking of previewing and profiling, one of the teams we really knew nothing about (and said so) was Ace Daniel's Camp Exposure team.   Well, it's nice to know that somebody reads our stuff, including Ace, and we got a call from him last night telling us who was on his team, and he followed up by faxing us a roster.  Seems that some of the guys we thought might be playing with other teams are going to be on his squad, and from the looks of it, he's got an impressive team.   Here's the roster for Camp Exposure:

1. Felipe Williams (6'-4" Sr. G) Crossroads
2. Chris Hutton (5'-10" Sr. G) Savanna
3. Andre Jones (6'-4" Sr. SG/SF) Price
4. Chris Alexander (6'-5" Jr. SG/SF) Price
5. Brett DeAngelis (5'-10" Fr. PG) Santa Monica
7. Nick Forman (5'-10" Jr. G) Crossroads
10. Mychal Lynch (6'-1" Sr. SG/PG) Price
21. Kevin Brown (6'-3" Sr. SG) Westchester
22. J.T. Leitch (5'-11" Sr. PG) El Segundo
24. George Gutierrez (6'-2" Jr. SF) La Quinta
27. Allen Purnell (6'-5" Sr. F) Savanna
32. Walter White (6'-6" Sr. SF/SG) Redondo Union
34. Othell Johnson (6'-6" Sr. SF/SG) Price
50. Eugene Moore (6'-8" Sr. PF/C) LA Washington

Apparently Andre Jones has transferred to Price, and from the looks of this, not only is the D-VA Southern Section Championship team going to be back, they're picking up a few other players as well. With all the Redondo players spread out though, it looks like they'll also be doing double duty in this event since there's also a team called "Redondo" entered.

Anyway, the games start today at 4:00 p.m.

For those who don't know, Long Beach City College is located just off the 405 freeway. Take the Lakewood Blvd. North exist and continue to East Carson Street.  You can't miss the campus, it will be on your right as you come up Lakewood Blvd.  You can also get there from the San Gabriel Freeway (605) by getting off at Carson Street West; you'll see the campus on your right. The best bet is to turn left on Clark from Carson aznd then turn right on Lew Davis where you can park and walk to the gyms.

Here's a map showing LBCC.  The arrow to the upper left will direct you towards Long Beach Jordan (which is located on Atlantic Blvd just southwest of Artesia, off the 710 freeway;  the arrow to the lower right will direct you toards Long Beach  Millikan, which is located on Palo Verdre near Spring Street.

See you there.
