BWBA Academy Workouts At
Anaheim High This Sun.--(Sept. 29, 1999)
Just in case you didn't get enough of a workout on Saturday, or if you're from Orange County and want to avoid the drive, the Branch West Basketball Academy will be working out this Sunday at Anaheim High School; younger players (8th grade through juniors, and non-varsity guys) usually workout from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the older, varsity-level and junior college guys usually workout from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Bob Gottlieb, who also coaches the BWBA travel teams (his No. 1 team with Ben Jacobsen, Harrison Schaen, Tim Bowers and some younger players, made it to the finals, losing by one point to Long Beach Poly), runs the workouts. In addition to just running workouts, Bob also assists and represents players who are being under-recruited with the college coaches to secure scholarhips. If you've never checked out one of these workouts, you should. It's a skills workout, which involves shooting, footwork, defensive skills, and some scrimmaging, but not a lot, because the focus is not just on running up and down the court, but on improving fundamentals and player development. Definitely worth taking a look at if you've never been before.
As always, don't necessarily take our word for it when it comes to the times of the two workouts; before making the trek down to Orange County, give Bob and Branch West a call at (714) 997-0380.
