UCLA: More On
Bozeman Commitment,
Cedric Speaks--(Sept. 4, 1999)
Frank Burlison gets all the plum jobs: He's been in Hawaii the past few days "getting ready" to watch the USC football game today, which he'll report on. Man, life is tough. . . Yesterday, from Hawaii, Frank also spoke with Cedric Bozeman via telephone to ask him about his verbal commitment to UCLA, and then filed this story which was published in today's Orange County Register:
UCLA gets oral commitment from Mater Dei's Bozeman

Cedric Bozeman has two more years of eligibility at Mater Dei High but already has decided where he wants to play college basketball.
Bozeman told UCLA coach Steve Lavin late Thursday night he'll sign a letter of intent with the Bruins in November 2000.
The 6-foot-4 1/2 junior, who plays point guard for the Monarchs but has missed a lot of his first two seasons with a variety of ailments, said Lavin told him UCLA would cease recruiting point guards among current high school seniors.
Bruins point guards Earl Watson and Ryan Bailey will be gone when Bozeman plans to start classes in Westwood in the fall of 2001.
"This has been a dream of mine," Bozeman said from his grandmother's home in Los Angeles. "I've wanted to go to UCLA for the longest time.
"The opportunity was there (to commit), so I took it now. I didn't want to wait (until a year from now) and have the door shut in my face."
Bozeman, one of the top five point guard prospects in the national class of 2001, underwent surgery on his right shoulder July 27 and hopes to begin shooting and playing again by the time the Monarchs begin practice in November.
"Now that I don't have to worry about recruiting anymore," Bozeman said, "I can focus on school work and high school basketball for the next two years."
