All New Message Forums At
SoCalHoops--(Sept. 8, 1999)
Ok, well, they're only sorta, kinda new. Actually what we've done is create two separate message forums, one for the men/boys and the other for the women/girls. We resisted doing so for a while, but lately, it's been hard to justify not having two separate boards given the volume of messages we've been receiving.
The addition of the two new forums is not necessarily a permanent thing, at least not yet, and for now we're considering it as sort of an experimental project; we're going to see whether it works or doesn't. Frankly, there's a lot of information that people post which is equally applicable to both boys and girls in high school and college, and from a recruiting point of view, other than slightly different exposure periods at different times of the year, there's virtually no difference. Likewise, there are many tournaments that are of interest both girls and boys. . . all of these factors, and more, have been keeping us from having separate forums up until now.
But lately, far too many people have requested that we have separate forums (you know, the girls just don't want to scroll through all those messages about guys they don't know and have no interest in meeting.:-) ), so for now at least we're willing to give it a try.
The way we figure it, if people like having two different forums, they'll use them; if they don't like it, and don't post, then we also figure we'll know that as well. We realize we can't please everyone, and actually gave up trying to do so long ago. If it works great, if not, we're willing to go back to a single, unified forum.
Let the messages begin.
Oh, and for now, you'll notice that we haven't yet switched over all the messages from the original forum, just retitled it the "Men's Forum". It's our intent (if we can ever find the time and patience) to move all of the messages which pertain to women's hoops over to the new Women's Forum. At least that's what we have in mind. . . on the other hand, we may just leave them where they are if it gets to be too much trouble doing all the html manipulation which is necessary to move them.
In the meantime, enjoy the boards.
