Travon Bryant Sets Up
Home Visits--(Aug. 12, 1999)

Let's clear one thing up: Is UCLA still interested in Travon Bryant (6'-8" Sr. PF) from Long Beach Jordan? You bet.  Have they offered him?   Apparently not. . . at least not yet, and they apparently won't until Travon's academic situation and his status as a qualifier are certain. 

But that isn't stopping Travon from making plans of his own, and he's looking at other schools and is busy setting up several visits with those who are most interested in having him.  According to our sources, Travon will take in-home visits with Cincinnati on September 9; from Roy Williams of Kansas the following day, September 10, from Ben Braun during the next week on or about the 16th, and from Michigan on September 18.  We're also willing to bet that in addition to Travon's mom, brother D'Cean (who plays at Cal State Long Beach) will be present for the home visits, and will offer some words of advice to his younger brother. While Missouri's Quinn Snyder is trying to get involved heavily with Travon (and from what we hear, he's also recruiting Wesley Stokes (5'-11" Sr. PG); he and Travon are pretty good friends from their Belmont Shore days), but so far no official visit has yet been set for either Travon or Wesley.    We've also received word that Kansas will have Travon in for an official visit on October 15-17, which is the weekend of the Jayhawks' version of "Midnight Madness."   From the games we saw this summer, Roy Williams was the most visible at Travon's games in Vegas (although Steve Lavin did catch at least two games in Vegas), and he attended virtually every one of them, and then he intently watched several of Travon's games during the first days of the Nike Summer Championships.

Does this mean that Kansas is the "leader"?   Heck no. It just means that we're pretty certain Roy Williams would be happy to have Travon among his recruits for next season.
