Ron Prettyman Recruiting Update:
Los Alamitos Guard Gets Looks--(Aug. 5, 1999)
We spoke with Ron Prettyman (6'-2" Sr. SG) from Los Alamitos this afternoon--he actually goes by the name "Ronnie" and his father is called "Ron"--who told us that he's gotten several calls from some good D-I and D-II schools after having an excellent summer. "There were a lot of coaches out watching our games this summer," Ronnie told us, "but many times I wasn't sure who they were there to watch, since there are three of us on the team (Ronnie played with the Los Al team throughout the summer) who are being recruited."
"There were a lot of coaches out looking at us toward the end of summer, and I've gotten calls from several schools, including UC Davis, Navy, and several others. I'm also very interested in Loyola Marymount, and if they offered, it would be great, just a perfect situation for me," said Ronnie.
Ronnie, who is a great outside shooter, but who also is a good slasher and a quick defender with good speed who runs the floor, told us he's pretty much "wide open" right now. His ideal school would probably be a smaller Division I college, but he wouldn't turn down larger schools either. "UC Riverside would be great, because they just went to Division I," said Ronnie. Coaches at schools in the WCC or Big Sky should check him out, especially those schools looking for a solid shooting guard with good skills. He's a full qualifier, who scored a 1090 his first time out on the SAT, and with a 3.2 GPA he'd be perfect for schools like CSUN, Cal State Fullerton, Pepperdine, LMU, Portland, or even a Gonzaga.
