Mt. SAC Gets New Head Coach,
Three New Assistants--(Aug. 21, 1999)

Since things have been little slow for everyone since we've been on the East Coast, we're glad to be getting  reports from our friends who have at least kept us posted. Now it's our turn to finally share them. One of the reports we got this past week was that former Rowland Heights head coach Michael Swanegan was named as the new men's basketball head coach at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. Swanegan coached at the prep level for 11 years and won over 65% of his games (161-85). He has sent several kids to the D1 level, most recently Julius Barnes (6'-1" Fr. PG) who will play at Stanford along with another incoming SoCal freshman, Casey Jacobsen (6'-6" Fr. SG).

Named as Swanegan's assistants were Ken Scott, who coached at Norwalk High (where he won more than 100 games), Roy Green, a former assistant at Cal Poly Pomona for the past 5 seasons, and Daryl Vincent, who as coach of  Ambassador Christian (a team we previewed last seaon) won over 62% of his games during his two seasons there.

All of the head coaching jobs at the schools these guys are leaving remain unfilled, so there should be some additional movement in the local high school ranks in the coming months.
