"Back 2 School Bash" Tourney
Set For Sept. 4-6--(Aug. 21, 1999)

Any thought of an "off-season" in basketball, especially high school hoops, should be banished from your mind. In fact, September is actually a pretty busy month, primarily because starting September 9, college coaches will be able to conduct another evaluation period.  Several events are confirmed, including the Long Beach Fall Hoops Classic, and the Double Pump Fall Premiere Tournament just to mention two.   But not every September event is geared just for showcasing players for college coaches.

First up on the fall tournament circuit this year will be Fentriss Winn's "Back 2 School Bash" which is set for  September 4-5-6 at University High School in Irvine. The tournament is one week prior to Dino's Long Beach Fall Classic and two weeks prior to the Pump event at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Fentriss expects to have some teams playing in the tournament as a tune-up prior to the pressure of playing in the viewing period; last year's event featured The Hood (Compton Dominguez), 805 Express, and others. The tournament for open Varsity-level boys will have between 8-16 teams all playing four games. Future Stars, Belmont Shore, and other top teams are confirmed for the boys event, so we would expect to see Nick Booker, Travon Bryant, Wesley Stokes, Ellis Myles, Ryan Mollins, Shaun Michel and brother Brett.   For girls' hoops fans (we know you're out there), there will also be a girls' varsity-level club division with eight teams, including teams who have placed in different majors in this past July.

Divisions:
Boys 12 and under (8) teams
Girls 11 and under (8) teams
Boys 14 and under (8) teams
Girls 13 and under (8) teams
Boys all-star club (16) teams
Girls all-star club (8) teams)

This should be a fun event.  For further information, contact Fentriss Winn at 760-726-4183 (phone) or e-mail at  On2hoop@aol.com.
