adidas Double Pump West Coast All-Star
First Session Schedules--(July 8, 1999)

Ok, so the first two days' schedules are now obsolete, but we're gonna post them anyway so at least you can all see what's been happening.  The schedules for games will really only make sense if you also consult the rosters.  In fact they'll only make sense if you do that first.   We'd suggest that you peruse the rosters first and then after you've spotted several players you want to watch, come back and check the schedules. Each day's schedule is postd here below, from Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Wednesday, July 7, 1999: Day One Schedule

The first day of camp is filled with registration in the morning, a parent orientation and then a player orientation from 12:30-1:00.  Games finally got underway after some introductory speeches by Aubrey, Phil Bryant, David Pump. After the first session of games, which not only seemed short. . . they were (the games are actually shorter the first time out and are only a scrimmage to get everyone used to being in camp), players trundled off to dinner and then came back for Dave Hopla's shooting clinic and demonstration.  Dave is still amazing after all these years, and this time he only missed one shot out of about 500. Amazing.  After that the evening games got rolling.  Again, the schedules may not make a lot of sense, but you can cross-check with the rosters for the first session so you can tell who's playing who, where and when.

We'll have player evaluations after we've seen everyone more than just once or twice, which means that we'll probably start posting up information on specific players tomorrow shortly before the all-star teams are selected.  Here's Wednesday's schedule.  The others are below..

Day Two Schedule, Thursday, July 8, 1999

Players generally be were up well ahead of the 7:30 a.m. breakfast, and some were even working out in the gym at 6:30 a.m. when it opened.  Not many, but a few.   In the morning session, Dave Hopla conducted shooting station drills and the camp was split, so that the one half was doing the Hopla stations, while the others attend a seminar on recruting and the NCAA Clearinghouse process.  The morning session also featured a short talk by Andre McCarter, who coaches the Touch Glove team in the Say No Classic League.  After the lunch break, the games got going in earnest at 1:30 and continued with only a break for dinner well after 10:30 p.m.  Here is the game schedules for Thursday, July 8.  Again, consult the rosters to see who played where and when.

Day Three Schedule,  Friday July 9, 1999

Like the first two days, the morning will be taken up with clinics, shooting stations, instruction, stretching and warmups.  Most players won't be getting up much before the 7:35 breakfast call, but the really dedicated ones, who can recover quickly (see, this is when all that aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, running, weight and strength training pays off), will be up before dawn working out and shooting in the gym.  At 9:30 a.m. Mark Grabow, trainer for the Golden State Warriors will conduct a camp-wide clinic on "Individual Programs for Self-Improvement".   From 10:30-11:30 the camp will break out for position drills on 5 courts, as players will be divided by position, sent to the court for their proper position.
