Campbell Hall Takes Third Palm
Springs Summer Tourney--(July 26, 1999)
Our Desert area correspondent dropped us a note about the events which took place this last weekend at the third of four Palm Springs summer tournaments:
Campbell Hall surprised everyone in the field with all around team defense and won the third installment of the Palm Springs summer tourneys, beating Garey in the Championship 46-35. Campbell Hall was led by 6'8" Jesse Foster and a host of others including guard Hassan Bassiri and Aaron Kerr. Garey was led by Forward Tarrus Parrish. In the third place game, Magnolia staged a second half comeback to down Highland 50-41. In the consolation championship, Cathedral City downed Camarillo 57-52 after being down 29-17 at half. Gerald Devance of Cat. City did not show up until half time and proceeded to score 27 second half points to lead Cathedral City.
The last installment of our summer tourneys is loaded, with teams such as Artesia (the QBL version with Charlie Rodriguez, Chris Hernandez and possibly Jason Carter from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas), Manual Arts, Pasadena, Serra, Barstow, Los Alamitos, La Canada all scheduled to participate starting this Friday (July 30th) at noon and continuing throughout the weekend.
