adidas Big Time Tournament
Championship Bracket Results--(July 20, 1999)
The Big Time Tournament consisted of 256 teams, each assigned to a pool; the top 48 teams (those in pools A-M) and the first place teams in the other 52 brackets (for a total of 100 teams) competed for the top title, the "Open Bracket" championship. The remaining teams in the last 52 brackets, the second place, third place and fourth place teams, all were then assigned to the remaining three brackets (A, B and C) depending on how they fared in pool play. The A bracket had all the second place teams, the B bracket had all 52 third place teams and the C bracket had the 4th place teams from Pools M through DDD.
Yesterday, we saw the semifinals in the C, B, and A brackets, saw the quarterfinals and the semifinals in the Open Bracket, but missed the Championship game, which was won by the New Orleans Jazz, who defeated the T1T Playaz (who were formerly known as the Tim Thomas Players, and we wonder if the "T1T " designation wasn't just a typo). In any event, we got to see the Jazz beat the snot out of the Michigan Mustangs, and then saw the Pump Team have a meltdown against the T1T group. We'll have a more in-depth report on the games played yesterday, on the players and a special series of features on the teams from SoCal who played at the Big Time (including all the rosters), but in the meantime, here's a bracket which was written by the guy who did all the html programming for the FastBreakRecruiting website, and since we gave him our templates for the brackets we've posted, we don't feel too bad about borrowing this .gif image. FastBreak Recruiting also did a great job in providing scores, daily stats and other coverage, and we want to thank Steve Beck and his guys who have provided some of the information to us and to Sheri Holmes at the Big Time, who provided invaluable data on a timely basis, even if we've been a little late in posting the information.

Stay tuned for more results and information on the 1999 adidas Las Vegas Big Time Tournament. In the meantime, it's off to Cal State Dominguez Hills/Rolling Hills Prep for the 1999 adidas Double Pump Best of Summer, the Slam N Jam NIT, and the Summer Showdown at Cypress.
See you there.
