Aras Baskauskas Will
Be An Anteater--(July 27, 1999)
Time to start catching up on all the recruiting stuff we've been hoarding for the last three weeks. First things first: Late in the spring, we were reporting that Aras Baskauskas (6'-1" Fr. PG) who recently graduated from Santa Monica, was considering attending either Yale, Cal Poly SLO, or several other schools. Well, now that the summer recruiting season is just about over, and considering that we spent about a week with Aras at the West Coast All-Star camp where he acted as a ref and counselor, we can now report that Aras will walk-on to the UC Irvine team this next season. While not earthshaking news, it's still nice to see that a quality point guard and good student will be sticking around close to home so we can continue to see him play. Aras will undoubtedly be an impact player, even as a walk-on, and we'd also bet that by the time he's a sophomore, he'll be a scholarship player.
