Ventura--Santa Barbara All-Stars Game
Tonight At Moorpark College--(June 11, 1999)

Yet another All-Star Game? Sure, why not. The Ventura-Santa Barbara County Boys' All-Star Game will be held tonight at 8:00 p.m. at Moorpark College. This one will feature some of Ventura county's best players, many of them unsigned, including Jeff Staniland of Ventura one of the areas leading scorers, Jake DeGennaro of Westlake High, Brian Polen from Newbury Park, Michael Goldman of Calabassas, and many others whom we don't yet know about. As for the players from Santa Barbara we don't have a clue, but the message we received informing us about the game mentioned Shantay Legans, but we kind of doubt that since he's already played (we think) in two All-Star games already, the NCAA limit for D-I incoming freshman players. We do know that Steve Johnson, the head coach at Newbury Park HS will be coaching the Ventura team.

There was supposed to be a girls' All-Star game as well earlier at 6:00 p.m., but the LA Times announced in this morning's edition that the girls' game has been cancelled.
