July 6 Dave Hopla Shooting Clinic
At
CSU Dominguez Hills--(June 11, 1999)
There's been some confusion lately about whether or not there would be any West Coast appearances by Dave Hopla, who is one of the most sought after shooting coaches around. Dave had originally been scheduled to spend the summer in Europe coaching players overseas, but now it looks like he's committed to at least two domestic appearances during an interlude in his international travels.
Dave will hold one of his patented (well, if they're not they should be patented) Dave Hopla Shooting Clinics on July 6, 1999 at Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson. Conveniently, the clinic takes place one day before the first day of the first session of the Double Pump West Coast All-Star Camp, so those players who are coming in a bit early for the first session will have something to do. If you need further details on what Hopla can do, check out the link to the Hopla Clinics at the Double Pump website.
Seriously, if you've never seen Hopla at work, it's worth the trip over to Dominguez Hills. Dave is one of the best shooters around, and he'll demonstrate and coach those in attendance on shooting mechanics, proper footwork, hand and elbow positioning, the art of "two-eyed" shooting, shooting off the dribble, shooting off screens, lateral ball slide, and free-throw shooting. And if you've never seen Dave shoot the ball, well, let's just say that he made 495 out of 500 shots in a row at the Final Four two years ago.
The cost of the clinic is $120 per person, and there's a $10 discount for advance registration ($50 if you mail in a registration and $60 at the door, or you can just pay $120 at the door). If you want to register in advance, contact Jan Bryant at Double Pump, 1-800-678-0935, or 1-530-256-2862.
