CAVS Classic Summer Basketball:
Other Age Group Schedules--(June 11, 1999)
Let it never be said that we won't try, when something is stuck directly under our noses, to help the younger set. The CAVS Summer Classic tournament, which gets going today, also features many different age brackets, and because so little information usually gets out about this group, we almost feel guilty only putting up just the high school varsity schedules. So here are the rest of them, including the various pools too. The schedules are by location only; if you're interested in looking for particular age brackets, those are identified as well.
In the JV-15/16U Division it appears there are only four teams in a single pool: CAVS, Rising Stars Express USA JV, and Fontana. Here's the schedule:

In between the rest of these games and the varsity games will be the 12U, 11U, 10U and 9U. Virtually all of the 9U games will be held at the Sylmar "small gym", aka the girls' gym (at least that's what it used to be called before Title IX). So if you want to check out the class of 2008, now's your chance.
Our point is that simply listing the names of the teams and the rest of the schedules for these divisions would probably not be too helpful, and many of these players are way too young for us to be focusing on. . . really. We're cutting it off at the 13U group, and that's probably too young anyway for real serious attention unless we happen to run into someone again this weekend like Jeremiah Nurse, the young 7th grader who lit up the ARC Spring League High School Varsity Championships last weekend. Guess we'll have to go and see for ourselves.
Later.
