Bim Okunrimboye Rising On A Wave?--(June 15, 1999)

Bim Okunrimboye (6'-0" Sr. PG) from Sonora HS, one of the better unsigned seniors still available, appears to be getting some serious attention from the new Pepperdine coaching staff, and we hear the feeling is mutual and it's possible that he'll be offered a spot for next year. With the graduation of Jelani Gardner,  and even with Kevin Bradley coming and still signed to play for the Waves (even if Romar is now gone),   Pepperdine can always use another quality point guard.  We saw Bim working out with BWBA on Sunday and he looked very good.  Bim has a very strong handle, pushes the break well and is effective at running the floor and can definitely create his own shot as well as penetrate.  He defends extremely well, and with his quick hands, and good lateral quickness, he can get his share of steals as well.   Coincidentally, we saw Bim the prior week as he played with the Hype Squad, the team which defeated Harvard-Westlake, er, we mean the Sarcens, in the ARC Spring League Championship game, and Bim scored 18 in that game and had about 8 or 9 assists as well.
