Player Profile: Top Shooting Guard/Small
Forward Antone Jarrell--(June 5, 1999)

Like his Portland Jefferson school teammate, Antone Jarrell (6'-6' Jr. SG/SF), whose Pump N Run Gold teammates simply call him "Tone",   is quickly becoming one of the top scorers on the west coast.

tone1.jpg (5293 bytes) Antone has been a consistent scorer this spring,  first at the Double Pump Easter Tournament, then at Purdue for the Spiece Run N Slam, and finally culminating with the adidas EBO/EA Hoop Summit Championship game, where he nailed five three pointers and finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Jarrell is a deceptive-looking player, and he appears decidedly slower than he really is. A great spot up shooter, he can also move the ball extremely well in the open court, and is also a very strong player under the boards. He has great leaping ability, and in addition to being a great outside shooter, also likes to slash to the hole and run the break. He's an extremely athletic player, who competes at both ends of the floor, and with his long arms, he's also an excellent shot blocker.

A player with great fundamentals, he has excellent footwork, and is also a smart team player, with good passing skills who, like his Portland teammate Brooks, also has some guard skills, as can be seen from his ability to hit the open man, share the ball, as well as his ability to either slash to the hole, or spot up outside for the long three.

Antone impressed more than a few college scouts in Indiana and many coaches as well during the Easter Tourney, and we'd expect both Oregon and Oregon State to try to make major pushes to go after him; in conversations he's mentioned several other schools, all high majors, and whether those schools also show the same interest in him is something that will probably be determined by midway through the summer. Antone will attend adidas ABCD camp and then will fly to LA for the second session of the Pump West Coast All-Star Camp.  From there he'll be with Howard Avery (who also coaches him in Portland along with Brooks and Heath Bailey, and before them, Mike Dunleavy, Jr.), and will travel to the adidas Las Vegas Big Time Tournament and then back to LA again for the Best of Summer tourney at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
