Duquesne Signs Devin Montgomery To LOI--(May 17, 1999)
Recruiting USA is reporting that Duquesne has signed Devin Montgoermy (5'-11" Sr. PG) from Alemany (who transferred from San Fernando High at the beginning of last season) to a National Letter of Intent.
Montgomery's a tough, physical player, very skilled with good court vision, who has reportedly recently achieved a qualifying SAT score-GPA combo. We're not certain where else Devin was being recruited, but Recruiting USA says that "Montgomery's recruiting had been down due to the fact that most college coaches didn't feel that he was going to qualify."
Recruiting USA also calls Devin "one of the best penetrators on the West Coast" and they should know because Devin was one of the point guards on the Los Angeles Rockfish squad which traveled to Indiana, Vegas and other tournaments (along with Shantay Legans, Jacoby Atako, Rafael Berumen, Nick Vander Laan, Brian Wethers, et., al). R-USA notes that Montgomery was recruited by Duquesne assistant Josh Oppenheimer who also helped sign Jack May (6'-8" Sr. F) from Chino Hills Ayala.
And while we're on the subject of Recruiting USA, those who visit the site with any degree of regularity should be aware that it will (or is threatening to) shortly go all subscription as of June 1, which means that if you want to continue to receive the same good recruiting nuggets and the insightful observations of Dave "the Rockfish" Benezra, Mark Mayemura, and their numerous correspondents from all over the country, you'll have to pony up the dough for the fee. The price is cheap, and they take Visa and Mastercard, so what are you waiting for?
