SoCalHoops Recruiting News
Tarlow, Cook Commit To Redlands;
Mitchell To Claremont--(May 5, 1999)
The Division III level just keeps getting all these good players, and it was recently reported in both the Daily News and the LA Times that three West Hills Chaminade players have committed to play at two different NCAA D-III schools. Darren Tarlow (6'-5" Sr. SF) and Cayce Cook (5'-10" Sr. PG) have both given commitments to the University of Redlands, while Clarence Mitchell (6'-5" Sr. SG/SF) has committed to Claremont College.
Tarlow and Cook will be a great combination; Darren is a tough, tenacious player who in our view might have been a D-II or low D-I prospect, but opted for a great education and the chance for immediate playing time; Cook is the son of Pepperdine assistant Darwin Cook, who is probably looking around now for another position because Van Breda Kolff will most likely hire an entirely new staff. Cayce, a great scoring point guard, played for the Pump N Run team last summer, and he's very quick, has great handles and loves to attack the basket. Mitchell is a slender, outside shooter who also likes to slash to the hoop from time to time, and he's got excellent hops.
Congratulations to all of these guys from SoCalHoops, and we look forward to being able to follow their playing careers for the next four years.
