SoCalHoops Recruiting News News
Both the LA Times and the LA Daily News are reporting that Joey Youmans (6'-8" Sr. SG/SF) from Sylmar High School has signed to play with Cal State Los Angeles next season. Youmans averaged 10 points per game and 8 rebounds per game last season, and was instrumental in Sylmar's run through their league and their playoff run which ended with a very close loss to City semifinalist, Crenshaw. Youmans should be an immediate starter and a real impact player.
We also got an e-mail yesterday from the father of Ronald Johnson (6'-5" Sr. SG) from South Gate, who wrote to say that Ronald will also play at Cal State Los Angeles next season, and we've also confirmed it with another member of the Johnson family. Ron's father said that several East Coast schools expressed interest in Ronald, but he decided to stay closer to home. Ronald is a tremendously talented shooter, who averaged more than 24 points per game for South Gate this past season, and he also scored this season's high point total in a single Rockfish Spring League game, a 40 point effort. He will be a tremendous addition to the Cal State LA program.
Congratulations to Cal State LA on two great signings.
