adidas Double Pump Easter Tourney:
Seattle Rotary Rosters & Updates--(April 8, 1999)

We just heard from one of our readers via e-mail who sent us what he believed to be the roster for the Seattle Rotary No. I team coached by  Daryl Hennings and Glen Turner, and we have to say it's a bit different than the one we have; not hugely different, but just a bit different. Harry Murphy e-mailed us the following roster:

Roy Smiley (6'4" 185 JR. SG/WG) (Seattle Garfield)
Maurice Murphy (6'1" 170 JR. PG) (Seattle O'Dea)
Eric Bond (6'7" 185 SO. SF) (Seattle Prep)
Josh Williams (6'7" 285 SO. PF) (Yakima Davis)
Michael Thompson (6'4" 180 JR. WG) (Seattle Ballard)
Andre Jackson (6'2" 160 JR. SG) (Renton High)
Chester Simmons (6'4" 175 JR. PG/SG) (Seattle Garfield)
Amon Gordon (6'4" 240 JR. PF (Everett Mariner)
Seamus Boxley (6'6" 180 JR. WG) (Mountlake Terrace)
Ben Devoe (6'11" 230 JR. C) (Olympia High)
A.J. Brooks (5'10" 150 JR. PG) (Seattle Franklin)

Harry also wrote that he believes Teyo Johnson (6'7" 235 JR, Everett Mariner) and Ed Roy, (6'6" 225 JR, Seattle Garfield) will not make the trip, but Harry didn't say why, and that's not the same info that we have; guess we'll have to wait and see.  He did remind us that Seattle Rotary made the trip to the Boo Williams Easter tournament last weekend, where they made the round of 12 (someone must have gotten a bye?) before being eliminated by SCA, which featured Tyson Chandler (7'-0" So. C) and Wesley Stokes (5'-10" Jr. PG) who was apparently "on-loan" to SCA from Belmont Shore, which itself was in Vegas at the Nike Easter Classic where they finished second.

We're guessing that the roster Harry sent us is probably the roster from the Boo Williams tourney, because we've got a slightly different roster from the Pumps. Here's the Seattle Rotary I roster which we got as the "official" roster:

Edward Roy (6'-7" Jr. F) Garfield
Kenny Gainous (6'-8" Jr. F) Kent Meridian
Teyo Johnson (6'-7" Jr. G/F) Mariner
Roydell Smiley (6'-5" Jr. G) Garfield
Maurice Murphy (6'-2" Jr. PG) O'Dea
Michael Thompson (6'-3" Jr. G) Ballard
Andre Jackson (6'-2" Jr. G) Renton
Chester Simmons (6'-5" Jr. G) Garfield
Ahman Gordon (6'-5" Jr. F) Mariner
Seamus Boxley (6'-6" Jr. F) Mt. Lake Terrace
Ben De Voe (6'-11" Jr. C) Olympia
A.J. Brooks (6'-1" Jr. G) Franklin

Again, slightly different than the one Harry sent us, and also from everything we've heard, Teyo and Ed are supposed to be  making the trip from, but like most tournaments, it's a wait and see who actually shows. Rotary I plays tomorrow at 12:45 p.m.on Court 2, Game 11, against the LA Hoyas, a team of mostly younger guys who have hopes of moving up to varsity this next season.

Seattle Rotary is also bringing two other teams to Dominguez Hills, a No. 2 and No. 3 team.

Seattle Rotary II features:

Jabari Riggins (5'-11" Jr. G) Davis
Jamal Miller (6'-2" So. G) Garfield
Johnny Johnson (5'-10" So. G) Renton
Daniyel Jackson (6'-2" So. G/F) Garfield
Brad Horn (6'-8" Jr. F) Renton
Josh Green (6'-1" Jr. G) Ballard
Anthony Grace (6'-7" Jr. C) Decatur
Antoine Geraghty (6'-1" So. G) O'Dea
Antjaun Davis (6'-4" Jr. F) Franklin
Wayne Britton (5'-10" Jr. G) Kent Meridian
Wale Arleyemi (6'-9" Jr. C) Garfield
Sterling Brown (6'-4" Jr. G) Woodinville

Rotary II will play at 11:30 a.m. on Court 3 (Game 9) against Pump N Run I, which we understand will now also feature Joe Travis (6'-7" Jr. F) from Long Beach Poly and Gregg Guenther (6'-8" Jr. PF/C) from Crespi, and this should be a game with some great matchups.

Rotary III is the "all-Soph" team, and is slated to have:

Kenny Thompson (5'-9" So. G) Mariner
Scott Szalay (6'-5" So. F) Kamiak
Roger Russaw (6'-2" So. G) Mt. Lake Terrace
Cameron Rowland (6'-3" So. F) Mt. Lake Terrace
Matt Kosmo (6'-2" So. G) Cascade
Jeff Knudsen (6'-0" So. G) Kamiak
Carson Hill (6'-8" So. C) Cascade
Brian Doty (6'-0" So. G) Woodway
Josh Daniels (6'-4" So. G/F) Everett
Will Conroy (5'-10" So. G) Ranier Beach
Caleb Frazier (6'-5" So. F) Seattle Prep
Erik Bond (6'-7" So. F) Seattel Prep
Josh Williams (6'-7" So. C) Davis (note, Williams is listed at 305 lbs.)

Rotary III will play in Game 1, at 9:00 a.m. on Court 1 against a tough but also young team from the Reno-Carson area, known as Carson B-Ball, which will have Alex Gamboa (6'-0" So. G) from Reno, Scott Beveridge (6'-1" Jr. G) from Reno, David Padgett (6'-7" 8th grade F) from Reno, Abduhl Ghaffary (6'-4" Jr. F) from McQueen, John Sutherland (6'-5" Jr. F) from McQueen, Sean Davis (5'-9" So.
