Reminder: adidas Double Pump California
All-Star Game Tomorrow--(April 23, 1999)

We just got off the phone with David Pump and so it's a good time for a reminder again about this weekend's adidas Double Pump California All-Star Classic, which will be played tomorrow, Saturday, April 24, 1999 at Cal State Dominguez Hills.  There will be two games, a girls' game which will feature some of the top stars from around SoCal, including Lindsey Davidson (Brea Olinda), Candace Baldwin (Banning), Allison Box (Bishop Amat), Jaline Bradley (Channel Islands), Jessica Cheeks (Narbonne), Lindsey Davidson (Brea Olinda), Leilanee Estavan (Palisades), Nicole Funn (Palisades), Allison Gerber (Esperanza), Jody Gilzene (Hamilton), Kandace Hunter (Moreno Valley), Kate Ides (Brea Olinda), Natalie Kelly (Peninsula), Portia Mitchell (Narbonne), Lauren Okayama (Diamond Bar), Sharonne Spencer (Compton Dominguez), Charlotte Washington (Inglewood), Lisa Whiteside (Bellflower)  Shannon Wosman (Bishop Amat), and others.

Apparently the game will not feature Omelogo Udeze (6'-2" Sr. F) of Harvard-Westlake, who was the LA Times' Valley girls' player of the year, who has signed a letter of intent to attend Fresno State. Udeze average 21.1 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in leading Harvard-Westlake to its third consecutive Mission League title and an appearance in the Division III state final. But many of the other female players have signed with D-I schools, including Jaline Bradley who will play for UCLA and Lindsey Davidson who is bound for Georgetown.

The boys' game will feature some of California's top players, from as far south as San Diego (Aaron Abrams from Rancho Buena Vista who will attend Wyoming) to several NorCal players like Justin Davis (Alameda St. Joseph's--Stanford), Blandon Ferguson (Alameda St. Joseph's--unsigned), Jovan Harris (El Cerrito--St. Mary's), and Joe Kirchofer (Laguna Creek Sacramento--Stanford).  Most of the players will be from SoCal, such as Gilbert Arenas (Van Nuys Grant--Arizona), Rafael Berumen (Simi Valley--New Mexico), Jaqay Carlyle (Riverside JW North--unsigned), Kent Dennis (LA Cleveland--West Virginia), Trenell Eddings (Rialto Eisenhower--UC Riverside), Noel Felix (Inglewood--unsigned), Dalron Johnson (Verbum Dei--UNLV), Nick Jones (Oxnard Santa Clara--UCSB), Keith Kincade (Compton Dominguez--West Virginia), Shantay Legans (Goleta Dos Pueblos--Cal Berkeley), Tito Maddox (Compton--unsigned), Marcus Moore (Compton Dominguez--unsigned), Andrew Pleick (Los Alamitos--Drake University),  Bo Segeberg (Serrano-- Sacramento State), Joe Shipp (Fairfax--Cal Berkeley), B.J. Ward (Oxnard Santa Clara--UCSB), and Brian Wethers (Murrieta Valley--Cal Berkeley).

The girls game will take place at 5:00 p.m. and the boys' game will start at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased at the door.

Most of the players are from the local area, but they will all be housed at a local hotel, and tonight will attend a special pre-game dinner. The teams will practice for a short time tonight and tomorrow morning, and they will also participate in an annual banquet for friends and family tomorrow afternoon prior to the game.

This should be a fun event, so if you opt not to go down to Orange County for their annual All-Star game
