Now that the summer is about to begin, I'm going to hit on the top players in Arizona for all you summer tourney hoop fanatics. First the sophomores.
Dennis Lattimore 6ft8 PF Mesa Mountain View
This strong, powerful insider has a nice touch, solid post moves and impressive athleticism. Has a game similar to Carlos Boozer. He's a big time recruit and is already hearing from all the big time programs. Might play for the Arizona Stars this summer.Jason Fontenot 5ft8 PG Phoenix St. Marys
Cat quick ball handling whiz with a sweet jumper. Most exciting player in the state and one of the top points in the West. Everytime you see him he's improved his game. Has the work ethic, talent and skills for the big time.Channing Frye 6ft10 Phoenix St. Marys
Tall kid looks like he will grow some more and put on weight. Has nice skills inside and has a nice shot. No Shaq here, this kid hits his free throws and battles inside. Big time prospect who will keep getting better and better.Mark Bowens 6ft2 PG Glendale Cactus
Powerful scoring point can dominate games. Put up big numbers for Cactus and should keep developing into a big time point/combo guard.Antonio Griffin 6ft7 Tempe McClintock
Athletic forward with solid skills needs to keep developing his ball handling and outside shot to reach his full potential. Could end up the top player in this class. Love his aggressiveness and intensity.Jon Wilkins 6ft4 2g/WF Chandler Hamilton
Big time leaper with big future. Continued work on his ball skills and outside shot will make him a big time recruit. Has already been named to numerous all tourney teams while playing for the Arizona Stars.Lynzell Jackson 6ft4 Tempe High
Forward with a good reputation put up big scoring and rebounding numbers for a young team.Jordan Legge 6ft8 PF Mesa Dobson High
Big kid who rebounds and scores inside. Needs to add more weight/strength, but then, he has time to do it. Nice skills who is a definite D1 prospect.Chad Christiensen 6ft2 2G Scottsdale Desert Mountain
Sweet shooting wing with good ball skills.Ryan Finn 6ft5 PF Mesa Westwood
Rugged youngster battles inside and is tough to stop down low.Jemel McClendon 6ft6 Tucson Salpointe
Raw kid has a lot of potential. He is strong and just needs more time to develop. Could become a big time recruit with hard work. Showed potential
in the 5A championship game against Mesa Mountain View.Bilal Russell 6ft4 Phoenix South Mountain
Bilal is a sweet shooting forward with size and solid ball handling skills. Could eventually move to 2G but right now is a forward. Has a soft touch
for such a big kid.Nick Lewis 6ft8 Brophy Prep
Lewis was impressive in the Top 120 Invitational. Plays hard, has nice post moves, a soft touch, hits free throws, battles for boards and loose balls, and really seems to enjoy the game. I like his potential.Nick Dewitz 6ft8 Mesa Dobson High
This athletic insider needs to put on weight and round out his post skills, but he might surpass teammate Legge in the future.Robbie Green 6ft PG Horizon
Green put up solid numbers for Horizon who boasted two of the better seniors in the state, Chris Craig and Adam Bauman. A good point who'll only get better.James Fontenot 5ft10 2G Phoenix St. Marys
This outside shooting specialist shows good ball skills and a good work ethic. Will continue to develop. Needs to continue to grow and become more
of a point for the next level.Next up, the juniors
