Update:
Belmont Shore & QBL In Semifinals--(April 2, 1999)
We heard from Dinos Trigonis this afternoon who is in Vegas coaching his Belmont Shore team in the 17-U high school division, and he tell us that last night, the Belmont Shore team, with Travon Bryant (6'-8" Jr. PF) from Long Beach Jordan, Ellis Myles (6'-7" Jr. F) from Compton, Walter White (6'-4" Jr. PG/SG) from Redondo Union, Leroy Dawson (5'-11" Jr. PG) from Compton, Ryan Mollins (6'-6" Jr. F) from Loyola, and D.J. Hicks beat the TPI/ABC team and advanced to the semifinals. TPI, as we guessed, had most of the usual suspects, including Jamal Williams (6'-7" So. C) from Corona Centennial, Chad Bell (7'-0" So. C) from Westchester, Craig Smith (6'-5" So. SG/SF) from Fairfax, the Craven twins, Errick and Derrick (6'-2" So. G) from Bishop Montgomery, and others.
Belmont Shore will meet the H.A.A.Y. team from Houston, Texas (again, not sure who's on it, but we'll find out next weekend because H.A.A.Y. will be at the Double Pump Spring Tournament on April 9-11 at Cal State Dominguez Hills).
Dinos also reports that Houston Hoops lost to a team from the Bay Area, MVP Flight and MVP will play QBL Lakewood tonight at 8:30 in the UNLV South Gym. QBL has all of the young guys from Artesia (Matos, Fernandez, Reyes, Martinez, Steffanson, etc) and they also picked up Charlie Rodriguez (6'-4" Fr. F) from Clovis West, and Chris Hernandez (6'-0" So. G) also from Clovis West.
Belmont Shore's game is tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the UNLV South gym. The final which will be between the winner of the Belmont v. HAAY game and the winner of the QBL v. MVP game will be tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
Which also means that there will be a ton of guys missing from the Saturday Rockfish League games. But that's a different story, one we'll get to in a moment when we post up tomorrow's schedule for RSL.
We'll try to get more info on what's happening in Vegas when we can.
