Kent Dennis Of LA Cleveland High
Signs With West Virginia--(April 9, 1999)

Kent Dennis (6'-2" Sr. SG) has signed a National Letter of Intent with West Virginia.  Kent is a terrific shooter, a great defender and was one of the best three-point shooters in the City Section this year. He turned down offers from CSUN, Northwestern and Santa Clara.  Dennis averaged either 24.5 points per game this past season or 24.6 (depending upon whether you believe the LA Times or the Daily News), 4.7 assists and 3.6 steals, and was named as an All-City selection.

Yesterday, Kent told the Daily News: "When I was out there, the coach told me they really needed guards to come in and play right away. It's the Big East and that's the big time right there. I'll get a chance to play against the NCAA champions (UConn) and play against a lot of big-time schools. Plus there's so much exposure. That's what I was looking for."

Kent also spoke with the LA Times, saying "I know it will be difficult going away from home, but they feel thehy picked up a good player and they definitely need help at the guard position."

Right.  We would have said the same thing.   Congratulations to Kent on his signing from SoCalHoops.
