Irvine High School Boys' Coach
Steve Keith Resigns--(April 23, 1999)

The Los Angeles Time has reported that Steve Keith announced his resignation as the Irvine High boys' basketball coach on Thursday.  "It's just time," Keith told the Times. "I'd been the head coach at Irvine the last 12 years, and was the head coach at Glendale 10 years before that. I'm going to be 50 this year and I need a break from coaching. I will continue to teach at Irvine and I still may be involved in the program in some capacity. But the high school athletic environment today can be all-consuming. I want to get going in a different direction."

Tell us about it coach.

Keith had a career record of 192-134 at Irvine. Last season the Vaqueros finished 18-9, third in the Sea View League and lost in the first round of the Southern Section Division I-AA playoffs.

Best of luck to Steve Keith. And if you are interested in the head basketball coaching position at Irvine, send your resume in (not to us, but to the principal at Irvine High).  Good luck.
