Frank Burlison Reports On Coaching Changes--(April 27, 1999)
Frank Burlison's weekly Tuesday column had some tidbits on the coaching merry-go-round:
Former Edison High, Santa Ana College and Stanford guard Kenny Ammann has joined Coach Bill Odell's staff at Azusa Pacific College. Ammann spent the past three seasons as an assistant to Coach Lorenzo Romar at Pepperdine.
Jan van Breda Kolff, who replaced Romar (now at Saint Louis) last week, has hired Chris Walker (a former Loyola Marymount aide who assisted him at Vanderbilt) as his No. 1 assistant.
Darwin Cook, who also was on Romar's staff at Pepperdine, interviewed with new San Diego State coach Steve Fisher on Monday afternoon.
And here's one Frank didn't report: Scott "Goose" Garson, an all-Mission League and All-CIF Harvard-Westlake grad, who was an assistant coach with Pepperdine last season, is a candidate for an assistant's spot at St. Louis and Utah.
