Cameron Dollar Resigns At So.Cal.
College;
May Join Harrick At Georgia --(April 23, 1999)
According to published reports in the LA Times and at other news sites, including ESPN, Cameron Dollar resigned Thursday as the head coach of Southern California College after just one season, and it is widely rumored that he will be named an assistant at Georgia under his former college coach, Jim Harrick. Dollar would not comment on his resignation and SCC Athletic Director Bob Wilson said only that Dollar was taking a major Division I assistant position. But sources in Georgia and others close to Dollar said the former UCLA guard had indicated that he would jump at an offer to work for his former coach. Dollar helped UCLA to a 31-2 record and an NCAA title in 1995 under Harrick, who was fired the following year. Harrick was hired at Georgia on April 1 after two seasons at Rhode Island. Dollar, an assistant at UC Irvine in 1997-98, was 11-22 in his only season at SCC. The Vanguards finished sixth in the Golden State Athletic Conference. Wilson said that he hopes to name a coach within 10 days.
