Brunner Reportedly Told
"No Thank You" By USC--(April 8, 1999)

The Daily News is reporting today that Kenny Brunner interviewed with athletic department officials recently for a spot on the team, and worked out with some of the USC players, but has been told that will not be admitted to the school. Brunner originally was a member of the Dominguez state championhip team from two years ago, and following his graduation, played at Georgetown initially in his freshman season but transferred to Fresno State after playing in 16 games at Georgetown.  He never played for Tarkanian, and last year was charged in two separate criminal matters, both of which were later dropped.  In one inicident, Brunner was charged with attempted murder of LACC coach Michael Miller, and in the other, Brunner was charged with threatening a Fresno State student by weilding a samurai sword.

Coach Bibby and his assistant coaches, Silvy Dominguez and Dave Miller, have made no secret of the fact that they are looking for a point guard, given the defections of Kevin Augustine earlier this past season and Quincy Wilder's  announcement he will be transferring out. Recently coach Bibby had an in-home visit with Marlon Parmer (6'-2" Sr. PG) from double-state champion Verbum Dei; Parmer is also scheduled to visit the campus this week.

The Daily News also reports that USC is still looking at Joe Shipp (6'-6" Sr. SG/SF) from Fairfax, who in our view should have at least been the co-Player of the year with James Wright (6'-0" Sr. PG) from Manual Arts who got the award.  Finally the Daily News notes what Frank Burlison reported several days ago, that USC is also interested in Danny Brotherson (6'-3" So. SG) from Utah Valley State College in Orem, Utah.

No letters of intent were received by the Trojans yesterday, the first day of LOI signing during the late spring period.
