Boozer To Duke Or UCLA?
We'll Find Out Tomorrow--(April 2, 1999)
Steve Lavin has invested incredible amounts of energy and staff time recruiting Carlos Boozer (6'-9" Sr. PF) from Douglas HS in Juneau, Alaska. He's flown there for home visits, followed him around the camp and tournament circuit, trekking to Fresno, Las Vegas, and many other spots where Carlos is playing, just so he can be seen in the stands. Of course, so has Duke's coach K. St. John's was also on Carlos' list of schools, but that seems to have faded, at least there's not much talk or speculation about Carlos signing with St. John's.
Boozer has made no secret of the fact that he's going to make an announcment tomorrow before the Magic Roundball Classic game. Steve Lavin and Coach K are reportedly both in Michigan already.
But the scoop may be out of the bag. WestCoastHoops is reporting in an article written by Bill McCauley that Boozer phone his high school coach George Houston this afternoon from Michigan to tell him that he'll be announcing for Duke tomorrow. Houston passed the word along to a local Juneau radio station, KINY AM, which reported it.
Truth or fiction? We don't know. But we'll all find out tomorrow.
