All-CIF Southern Section D-II Boys
Basketball Teams Announced--(April 1, 1999)
The All-CIF Southern Section Boys' Basketball teams were released (via the SS-CIF faxback service) yesterday, but they probably weren't supposed to be sent until April 5, because they clearly state at the top "As Selected by SCIBCA, April 5, 1999. " But clearly, these are the teams selected, so it's not some April fool prank. There would appear to be a slight error in the second team selection which was faxed to us for this division, and it involves the "Second Team" selections: Jerry Inzunza, who appears on the list below (because this is the way we received it from the CIF office) clearly doesn't belong on the Second Team All-CIF in Division II. Why not? Well, for one thing, he was selected to the Division I All-CIF First Team, and second, Troy is a Division I school, not a Division II school. So maybe there is a little bit of April-foolery going on at the CIF Southern Section office after all. And it also means that somebody else probably got left off the D-II Second-Team list who deserved to be there in this Division. Oh well, maybe by the April 5 "official" release date, SCIBCA will straighten it all out. In the meantime, here are the Division II selections as faxed to us from the Southern Section office:
