CIF SoCal Regional Semifinal:
Verbum Dei v. Serra Results. . . Finally--(March 13, 1999)

We got this e-mail this morning from one of our readers, "David" (no last name), and we have a feeling that it's somebody connected with the Verb program.  Hmmm, who is named "David" who is connected with Verb?  Here's the letter: 

Verbum Dei vs Serra

The best game of the high school basketball season... The gym was soldout, VD turned away 150 people at the door ....Alumni from both schools wearing old school letterman jackets talking trash about the old days. Police along the walls waiting for trouble (there wasn't any). Serra bitching all day trying to get VD to change the game site . Their excuse, crips vs bloods, gym too small, can't control students, etc. . . (aren't these all good Catholic boys?).
The gym was loud both on both sides.

The first quarter was all Serra ,Serra was quick fired-up, beating Verb at every turn. Second quarter Verb calmed down and started playing traditional VD ball . At the half Serra 31, VD 30.... The third quarter   showed who was in shape, VD was running and we could tell Serra was running out of gas. The fourth quarter, Parmer started passing the ball and the game was over. Dalron had five dunks , Verb ran Serra out of the gym ... This game was fantastic.. too bad you missed it....
