Lorenzo Romar Checking Out
The St. Louis Job--(March 25, 1999)
According to published news reports, third-year Pepperdine head coach Lorenzo Romar has interviewed for the vacant head coaching position at St. Louis University. Romar is the fourth candidate for the position. Others have included Illionois State coach Kevin Stallings, Appalachian State coach Buzz Peterson and SIU-Carbondale coach Bruce Weber.
While coaches frequently interview for other jobs, this one would have to be pretty impressive for Romar to consider moving his family to St. Louis from Calabasas and Malibu. His record with the Waves is 42-44 although they are steadily improving the won-loss ratio: Last year they were 19-13 and appeared in the NIT, last year they were 17-10, and the year before they were only 6-21.
