Rockfish Spring League: Julian
Sensley &
Avery Queen In Town--(March 19, 1999)
We just got word from Mark Mayemura and Dave Benezra that two spectacular juniors will be in town this weekend displaying their talents at the Rockfish Spring League on Saturday and Sunday. Julian Sensley (6'-9" Jr. PF) a 230lb 3-time All-State player in Hawaii, who is featured in the current issue of Slam Magazine as one of the top prospects in the country, will be playing with the Rockfish Orcas at 12:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The scheduled opponents for the Hammerheads are the Tiger Sharks, Bob Gottlieb's BWBA team (Saturday) and the Pump N Run team and the Rockfish Barracudas on Sunday.
In addition, Avery Queen (5'-8" Jr. PG) from MCI Prep in New England, one of the quickest and most exciting point guards you'll ever want to see, will be playing Saturday only at 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. for Elvert "Koolaid" Perry's Inland team, which is scheduled to play the Hammerheads and the Marlins. And while we wouldn't expect Sensley and Queen to match up against each other (just kidding), these will be some tremendous games, perhaps the best of the day anywhere.
Remember, the Rockfish Spring League games take place at LA City College which is located at 855 N. Vermont. The gym is just south of Santa Monica Blvd., and off a side street, but you can see it from Vermont. Remember to bring lots of quarters, because the meters work on Saturday, and you'll get a ticket if you don't feed them.
We haven't seen Sensley yet, but we have seen Queen play, and if you haven't seen him, you don't want to miss it. See you there.
