McDonald's All-American High School
Game Tomorrow On ESPN--(March 23, 1999)
Set your VCR's because the McDonald's All-American High School Game will be played tomorrow night in Ames, Iowa. But the actual basketball game is only part of and hoopla. There was a little Slam and Jam contest tonight, March 23 and it will also be televised tomorrow night before the game is shown live. The Sprite Slam Jam will be shown before the game on Wednesday, March 24th at 4:30 p.m. PST on ESPN.
Several contests were featured, a three point contest, which was won by none other than Jason Kapono, who hit seven shots in a row to take a first round lead with a score of 21. Also impressive were the two 611 centers, Jonathan Bender and Brian Cook who each scored 14. The final round was set with Kapono, Nelson, Dunleavy and Wilkins. Of course, Kapono finally won the contest beating the other finalists. Didn't we tell you last summer that we saw Jason hit 8 consecutive three's in a game? You bet we did.
The Slam Dunk contest was close, but eventually Jason Williams won, beating out Donnell Harvey beat out Carlos Boozer, Nick Collison, Jonathan Bender, Joe Forte, Kenny Satterfield, Damien Wilkins, and Donnell Harvey, who was clearly the crowd favorite.
