CIF Div. I Southern Regionals
Manual Arts, Mater Dei Both Win--(March 9, 1999)

The lower bracket of the Division I semifinals is now set, and there couldn't be two more contrasting teams than Manual Arts, the free form, pressing-running-gunning almost wild-style of play against the multi-coached, disciplined offensive scheme that is Mater Dei.

We don't have the details of these games, but   Manual Arts beat Long Beach Poly 67-57 at Manual Arts, and Mater Dei beat San Diego Bonita Vista at Eastlake High School tonight by a score of 79-53.

So, irony of ironies for the CIF:  The Division I Regional Finals, which will be played at San Deigo, won't have any San Diego teams in it at all.  Should make the hotel operators in Mission Bay area happy though.
