CIF Southern Section & LA City Playoffs:
Schedules For All The Finals--(March 3, 1999)

We posted this up previously on February 13, and now we realize that it was way too early, because back then nobody was really thinking about the times and places of these games.  Well, almost nobody.  Barring any sudden changes by the Southern Section or the City Section, here's the composite schedule again.

CIF SOUTHERN SECTION 1998-99 BOYS BASKETBALL FINALS

Division Place, Session, Time
I-AA-- Artesia v. Long Beach Poly Sat., Mar. 6, Anaheim Pond - Evening Session, 8:30 p.m.
I-A--Glendora v. Mater Dei Sat., Mar. 6, Anaheim Pond - Evening Session, 6:30 p.m.
II-AA--Dominguez v. Gahr Sat., Mar. 6, Anaheim Pond - Day Session, 2:45 p.m.
II-A--Inglewood v. Mayfair Sat., Mar. 6, Anaheim Pond - Day Session, 1 p.m.
III-AA--Bishop Montgomery v. San Dimas Sat., Mar. 6, Anaheim Pond - Day Session, 11:15 a.m.
III-A--Chaminade v. Corona del Mar Sat., Mar. 6, Anaheim Pond - Day Session, 9:30 a.m.
LA "Division" Championship--Poly v. Jefferson Sat., Mar. 6, Loyola-Marymount, 3:00 p.m.
IV-AA--Serra v. Twentynine Palms Fri., Mar. 5, UCI Bren Center - Evening Session, 8:15 p.m.
IV-A--Verbum Dei v. Crossroads Fri., Mar. 5, UCI Bren Center - Afternoon Session 4:45 p.m.
V-AA--Pasadena Poly v. Santa Clara Fri., Mar. 5, UCI Bren Center - Evening Session 6:30 p.m.
V-A --Price v. Antelope Valley Chrisitian Fri., Mar. 5, UCI Bren Center - Afternoon Session, 3 p.m.
LA "City" Championship: Manual v. Fairfax Fri., Mar. 5, UCLA Pauley Pavilion, 8:00 p.m.

Remember, the LA City Boys' Championships will be played on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. at Pauley Pavilion, and allowing for travel time, if you intend to see that game between Manual Arts and Fairfax, you'll probably have to forego at least part of the Pasadena Poly v. Santa Clara game, and certainly all of Serra v. 29 Palms.   And if you want to see the girls City final which is scheduled for Friday, March 5, at 6:00 p.m. also at Pauley, then you'd better forget about all of the Verbum Dei v. Crossroads game.  In fact, you probably shouldn't even plan on driving to Irvine given the way traffic is on a Friday up and down the 405.

On Saturday, the Boys' and Girls' "Division" title games will be held at Loyola Marymount on Saturday, March 6, with the
Girls game at 1:00 p.m. and the Boys' final at 3:00 p.m., so if you want to see those games, forget about Inglewood v. Mayfair and Dominguez v. Gahr.

And for those of you who think in a linear, real time mode, not by Divsion, who want to plan out where to be and when to be there, here's a chronoligal schedule for the boys' games.

For purposes of moving on to the California State Championship tournament, all CIF-SS Divisional champions and runners-up will receive automatic berths in the state tournament , e.g., I-AA, I-A in Division I; II-AA, II-A in Division II; III-AA, III-A in Division III; IV-AA, IV-A in Division IV; V-AA and V-A in Division V. In City Section, only the "City Championship" winner and runner up will move on to the State Tournament.  The "Division" Champions will receive a nice parting gift.  Tell them what they'll receive, Johnny. . . . .
