Here's the missing report from our Sacramento correspondent and friend, Patrick McKinney. Pat had to sleep sometime, and since we've been out all day at Rockfish, Pump N Run, and various other gyms around SoCal today, this is the first we've had a chance to breathe. Here's the report on the Division IV game and the stats to go along with it

The game started early and, unfortunately, not a lot of people turned out for the contest. Calvary took the Southern Regional in a 46-43 win over Bishop’s on the strength of 29 points and 12 rebounds from Cathy Joens. Sacred Heart got here by slipping by Oakland’s Holy Names 45-42 in overtime and entered with a 29-6 record. Sacred Heart wanted to stop Jones and while they didn’t neutralize her, they slowed her down and took a 48-43 victory.

Sacred Heart won this one and you can look for them to return in the future. Lamprell is a good player but, as the only senior starter, she has a great deal of support from her underclassmen teammates. Bayol did a great job at point and she will be around for three more years. Sacred Heart likes the three ball, and Hallsted and Jurian each hit in the first, but Joens and Richelli worked inside for Calvary to give them a 12-10 lead after one.
Sacred Heart went on an 8-0 in the first three minutes of the second quarter to take a lead. Lamprell scored to tie, Bayol hit a three, and Jurian put back her own shot and converted the three point play to put Sacred Heart up 18-12. Calvary went to trap press and used their inside game to get back in. Pitts stepped out for a three and Sacred Heart clung to a 24-21 halftime lead.
Jurian led Sacred Heart with 10 and Bayol added 5. For Calvary, Joens, Guerrero, and Richelli each scored 6.
Sacred Heart went on a 9-3 run to start the third and Calvary got a timeout after being down 33-24 with 1:56 left. The teams traded buckets, and Sacred Heart was up 37-28 after three.
Bayol slashed to the hole to start the fourth and Sacred Heart was up 11. Shayna Fabre responded with a three for Calvary and Joens scored to make it 39-33 with 6:15 left. Laird Scored and Bayol got one free throw and the game appeared to be in Sacred Heart’s control. Calvary, however, went on a run and made a game of it. Joens scored, Fabre hit two free throws, and Joens stole the ball and scored to make it 44-41 with 2:26 left. Lamprell missed the front end of a one and one for Sacred Heart and Calvary got the ball back. Calvary couldn’t score and was forced to foul. Lamprell hit a pair and the game was out of reach ending 48-43.
Joens scored 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals, but Calvary needed an even bigger game from her here. Sacred Heart limited her to 9 of 26 from the field. Guerrero and Fabre each added 7 for the runners-up. Sacred Heart had three players in double figures: Laird led the way with 15 points and 10 rebounds; Jurian had 10 points and 11 boards; and Baird had 10 points to go with 4 assists and only 3 turnovers in 32 minutes. Look for Sacred Heart to be back on the podium in the near future.
