Nike Extravaganza Extra: Oak Hill
Player Profiles #2--(Feb. 2, 1999)
Oak Hill, the No. 1 ranked team in the country, and perhaps the best ever high school team we've seen (really, we mean it, seriously) features 12 players on its current roster. We're going to feature their profiles direct from the Oak Hill 1998-1999 Warrior Basketball Guide, which we picked up from Assistant Coach Sid Finklea at the Reebok Las Vegas Holiday Prep Classic in December. Three profiles per day for the next four days. Here's No. 2 in the series, which features profiles for Cliff Hawkins, John Humphrey, and Allan Lovett.
Cliff Hawkins (6'-1" Jr. G) -- As a sophomore, Cliff was named to the Virginia All-State first Team. Prior to transferring to Oak Hill, Cliff helped lead Potomac High School to the Virginia State Championship game. A true all-around player, Cliff can play several positions on the court. An excellent scorer, Cliff utilizes his ball handling abilities to get to the basket and make plays. Cliff's best attribute may be his willingness to defend on the ball. Son of Ms. Monique Wilhite and Mr. Ricky Hunter.

What I like most about Oak Hill is: The opportunity to travel and play against
the top players night in and night out.
John Humphrey (6'-1" Sr. G)--John is the best jumper on the squad [SoCalHoops: That's an absolute fact. He may also be the best jumper in the country!]--He has the ability to run the floor and finish on the break as well as anybody on the high school level. Lob dunks are a common sight when watching John play. He will need to enhance his ball handling skills in order to earn quality minutes on the floor an provide depth in the backcourt. Son of Ms. Mary H. Butler

Allan Lovett (6'-3 1/2" Jr. SG/SF)-- Allan has been a pleasant surprise in early season workouts. A versatile player, he can play inside and out. His shot range has improved along with his ability to drive the ball hard to the basket and finish plays. He is one of the strongest players on the team this year. His strength and athleticism allow him to be a good rebounder and hopesfully a good defender in the near future. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Lovett.
