Casey Jacobsen Will Need A Really Big Game
To Break Record Tonight--(Feb. 6, 1999)

Casey Jacobsen was 75 points away after Glendora's game on Tuesday at Walnut. Last night, Glendora played Chino at Chino, and if you've ever been to the Chino gym, then you know that it's a big old barn of a place, really poorly lit, and not at all a shooter's paradise.  Last night, Glendora won, by a huge margin, 73-38, and from just looking at the score, you might assume that Jacobsen got a lot closer to breaking the record.

Well, he did get a bit closer, scoring 26 points, but not close enough to break it tonight against Troy at the Nike Extravaganza unless he has the kind of performance again that he had at the Nike Dream Classic at Pauley Pavilion.   With Jacobsen's 26 points last night, he's still  49 points short of the record.   No doubt he'll break it sometime during the remainder of the season, because Glendora still has two more games after tonight (at Upland on the 10th of February and then at home against Claremont on the 12th).

But to break it tonight, he'll have to score 50 tonight. Of course with Casey, it's certainly possible, and it would be a great way to become the all-time leading scorer, breaking Tracy Murray's record.  We don't want to say "likely" but it's sure within the realm of possibility,   especially against Troy.  Not that they're patsies, but other than Jerry Inzunza (5'-10" Sr. PG) we don't really know of anyone on Troy who can stop Casey once he gets going.   Guess we'll all find out today though when Glendora plays Troy at 6:00 p.m. in the Nike Extravaganza at Cal State Fullerton.

In last night's Glendora game, Chino stayed close for the first quarter, trailing by only a single point, but in the second quarter, Glendora went to work, outscoring the Cowboys 23-10, and then outscored them in the third 23-9 and 16-9 in the fourth.  Freshman guard Cameron Munoz led the Cowboys with 11 points and Adrian Aquino added 10 points. Glendora is 23-1, 8-0. Here's the line score:

GLENDORA (73)

Giles 2, Chr. Clark 20, Cha. Clark 8, Jacobsen 26, Davis 8, Boyer 1, Ahmad 6, Reid 2

CHINO (38)

Munoz 11, Aquino 10, Williams 2, Fisher 3, Polidore 8, Richards 4

Glendora 11 23 23 16 -- 73

Chino 10 10 9 9 -- 38

See you tonight at Cal State Fullerton.
